The Cadman Park Conservancy is an all-volunteer community based non-profit 501C-3. We partner with NYC Parks to improve our precious park through advocacy, fundraising and volunteer activities. Our work and your contribution help to keep our park vibrant, clean, safe and blooming! Please join us in supporting this critical neighborhood resource.

Additionally, our park is home to the Brooklyn War Memorial. We are working to re-open this space to the public. The memorial is dedicated to the more than 300,000 heroic men and women of the borough of Brooklyn who served in World War II.

Athletic Field

New Field Signage Alert!
NYC Parks has updated signage for shared use of the athletic field.

⚽ Active use (including organized soccer for both adult and children’s leagues) now allowed on 1/3 of the field near Juneteenth Grove — first come, first served.
🌳 Passive recreation only on the remaining 2/3 near the Brooklyn War Memorial.

Thanks to Commissioner Martin Mahar for supporting a balanced solution. Let’s all share the space respectfully!

In advance of Juneteenth, the Cadman Park Conservancy has set up signage in Juneteenth Grove to bring awareness to this important place in our park to celebrate Juneteenth.

Storytime!

Athletic field

Signs are being made to show where adult leagues can play and will be installed as soon as possible. In the meantime, we've received several complaints about evening soccer groups arriving and asking children to leave the field. Please remember: the athletic field is a shared, first-come, first-served space. The issue is that these groups often take over the entire center of the field, leaving no room for children to continue playing.

Come celebrate the sunshine and meet the Wednesday Morning Conservancy Gardening volunteers in Juneteenth Grove by the Circle planter. Join NYC Parks Gardener Nathan Grozan from 9:30-11:30 am and help take care of the planted areas in Juneteenth Grove in preparation for Juneteenth! Being a friend!

The Brooklyn Heights Library presents Storytime in Juneteenth Grove (on the lawn) on Wednesday morning, June 11th at 10:30am.

Bring your young children and join the librarians for the delightful reading time in Cadman Plaza Park.

Memorial Day

Today the Conservancy remembers our dear friends World War II Veterans Jack and Roy Vanasco. Four brothers, Terry, Roy, Joe and Jack all signed up for the National Guard early on but were sent home because they were underage. They all went on to serve in the Army except for Roy, who served in the Navy. Jack dropped out of John Jay High School to serve our country and he received an honorary degree in 2003.
