Spring Mulching Day 2025: Thank You to Our Volunteers!

On Saturday, May 3, the Conservancy hosted our annual Spring Mulching Day under sunny skies in Cadman Plaza Park. Volunteers worked hard to spread mulch throughout the Juneteenth Grove, around the athletic field and around 19 Eastern redbud trees (Cercis canadensis) planted by NYC Parks in honor of Juneteenth.

We’re deeply grateful to all our volunteers, including families with young children and passersby who joined in.

With special thanks to:

The Packer Collegiate Institute High School student volunteers and Georgia Karshan & Julius Kohn-Blank for organizing, volunteers from The Service Collective

NYC Parks Horticulturist Anil Chandrakumar for coordinating mulch delivery and placement, and a warm welcome to Nathan Grozen, our new Parks Department Gardener—your support made this event a great success.

Your dedication keeps our park vibrant and thriving—thank you!
